Just A Note From The Country

This is a picture I took here at home. The date is incorrect. It should be 03/21/2010. I forgot to reset the calendar date when I changed the batteries. I also found lots of trilliums on the property. Most of them are growing down by the creek. In some places they are in bunches of 12 or more. I had forgotten how beautiful they are.

I am not the best photographer, but I hope you can see how pretty it is. Unlike daffodils and other spring flowers that return each year. The trillium is actually a very fragile plant. You can pick daffodils and their cousins through out spring and they will keep putting out blooms. If you pick a trillium it takes years to come back.

I have found lilac shrubs on the property. I can't wait for them to start blooming. Nothing smells as good as lilacs.

The war between me and blackberries has been going in earnest. I think I won the battle over the flower bed that my mother-in-law had established many years ago. I discovered a hydrangea bush that was being strangled by the blackberry vines. I also found some hens and chicks.

It's been raining here pretty good for the past week or so, so I haven't had a chance to check on the flower bed.

I did get to transplant some strawberries that were down in the garden. I wanted to move them to the strawberry box up by the house so I could keep an eye one them. And I was concerned that my husband, Calvin, would accidentally run them over with the tractor while he was tilling the garden.

My vegetables are ready to plant. I have a garden growing on the kitchen table while I am waiting for the nights to get a bit warmer. It's still too cold for them to be in the ground.

Well, it's time for me to get some housework done before I go to work. I am very excited...I have a new mop head for my mop. Now maybe my floors will actually be clean!

Until I get to write again...May you all have a blessed week and a safe one.

It's Tuesday All Ready!

It's Tuesday all ready and I am still trying to figure out what happened to Saturday and Sunday not to mention Monday!

There is a new story on the "Snippets From My Life" page and I have a new book review on my review blog. So be sure to stop by and check it out (the review).

Today is my mother-in-law'a birthday, may she have many more, so I am frosting the cake. Chocolate fudge on a chocolate cake. Yummy! I have to work tonight so I told my husband to bring a piece to me at work. I sure hope he does.

I have to keep this short today. I have laundry to fold and pants to press for work and a cake to frost before I go to work. So I pray all of you have a blessed Tuesday and may the rest of your week be blessed as well.

For you parents who have children at home for Spring Break... I recommend Tylenol... lots and lots of Tylenol. Seriously, I hope you are having a wonderful time with your children.

That reminds me of something I will write about later on the "Snippets" page.

Until I write again.... God bless

Thank Goodness It's Friday!

camptejas031.jpg country church image by munkybabe89

I know, I know, this is what everyone says when it's Friday. But, it is so true! Especially if you don't have to work over the week-end!

I actually have this week-end off, so I won't be working. I have a wedding to attend, my step-daughter is getting married Saturday. I have church on Sunday. And somewhere in between those two things I have a garden to plant and hopefully I will get to kayak, since I didn't get to do that at all this past week.

Ok, who said I didn't have to work this week-end?

Actually, church and weddings and even planting a garden isn't work. They are offerings to the Lord. Worshiping Him with other members of His body is not only for Him but a time of renewal for me. Attending a wedding is affirmation that He is the one who brings two people together for His glory. And planting a garden is a reminder that He was the grain of wheat that had to die in order to be raised from the dead and bring in His harvest.

So, even as I do these things this week-end, with some kayaking thrown in, my heart and mind will be on Him. And I will be praying that He will reveal Himself to you, my dear friends, in such a way that you too, will be giving Him all of the praise and glory.

Have a wonderful week-end and be blessed.

Kayaking and Book Reviews

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great week-end, I know I did.

If you noticed, I added another page. It is "Book Reviews are Here!" This is where I will be doing book reviews. If you have any comments or suggestions regarding them, please leave me a comment. There is always room for improvement.

Today I added another snippet to the "Snippet" page. It's about my experience kayaking. There isn't a whole lot since it was my first time and fear pretty much dominated the experience. But I did have some great moments out there. Be sure to read it and let me know what you think.

I started back to working outside of the home, part-time. So I will try to post on my days off. They will vary so you will want to check back every other day or so to see if anything new is here.

I am reading a new book for review. I will post my review of it as soon as I am done reading. For those who need extra when doing their bible study, this might be a good tool to have. That is all I am going to say about the book. The rest will have to wait!

Until I write again....May the Lord bless you and keep you and your family safe.

Monday Morning Blah's

I don't know about anyone else, but sometimes I wake up with the Monday Morning Blah's. And today is just one of those Monday's.

I know I should be writing something inspirational, or exciting or even working on the book... but I just can't seem to get into it this morning. Instead, I am visiting other people's sites and doing nothing.

Well, not exactly nothing.... I did learn a couple of new things to help me with my writing process and I read some great interviews and entered a couple of book drawing contests. So... it hasn't been a complete wasted morning.

Oh yay! I even built a fire in the wood stove all by myself this morning! I didn't need my husband to start it, though he probably would have done a better job. What can I say? I am a city girl learning how to live in the country. Hmmm.... there's an idea!

Gotta go... got some ideas rolling around now! Hope your Monday is good to you today! God bless you all!
